Sascha’s Secret Love Letter #37

Quotes From The Heart

‍

"The most desired gift of love is not diamonds or roses or chocolate. It is focused attention."

— Richard Warren

‍

Warren said this in a pastoral context, but it translates perfectly into everyday relationships. Think about every time you felt truly loved: was it the gesture, or was it that someone was completely, undividedly there? Presence is the thing that can't be bought, scheduled around, or faked for long. And its absence is usually the first thing we feel, even when we can't name it.

‍

Try this: Think of the last time someone gave you their full, undivided attention, how did it feel, and how long ago was it?

New Research Confirms Women Want More Than Presence... They Want Real Attention

‍

A 2026 loneliness report from Simply Psychology highlighted something that resonates deeply in a coaching context: the Harvard Study of Adult Development, one of the longest-running studies on human wellbeing, found that quality of relationships, not quantity, is what predicts happiness and physical health. Crucially, the research also found that social isolation increases mortality risk by 26%, with effects comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. The takeaway for anyone dating or in a relationship: feeling unseen isn't a minor complaint. It is a genuine health concern. And it is worth taking seriously, starting with yourself.

Your Strength Got You Here. Can It Let You Be Held?

‍

There's a version of strength that builds careers, raises children, survives hard seasons, and keeps everything running. It's real, it's earned, and it deserves every bit of respect it gets.

‍

But there's something that same strength can quietly do in relationships without you even realizing it: it can make you completely self-sufficient in a way that leaves no room for anyone else to actually show up for you.

‍

The armor that protected you in difficult seasons can become the wall that keeps real intimacy out.

‍

This isn't about becoming softer or smaller. It's about recognizing that leading in every area of your life simultaneously, including love, can create a dynamic where the man across from you has nowhere to land. Not because you're too much, but because the door is always already handled.

‍

The shift isn't dramatic. It's the small moments: letting someone carry something for you, literally or otherwise. Choosing presence over productivity, just for an evening.

‍

Try this now: Think of one moment this week when you could receive something, help, care, or a compliment, without redirecting or deflecting it.

Your Secret Invitation

"I can do it myself" is often a trauma response disguised as a strength. True intimacy requires the courage to be supported.

‍

Reflection: Who in your life is waiting for permission to help you carry the weight?

Note: Vulnerability means letting people see where you end and where you need them to begin.

Until next week 😉
