Sascha’s Secret Love Letter #47

Quotes From The Heart

"Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do."

— Benjamin Spock, Baby and Child Care (1946)

‍

Spock wrote this about parenting, but it applies to relationships with almost uncomfortable accuracy. The number of times women have sat across from me and described, in detail, exactly what was wrong and then asked me if they were right to feel that way is more than I can count. You already know. The work isn't figuring it out. It's building enough trust in yourself to act on what you already sense.

‍

Try this: Think of something in your current relationship or dating life you've been second-guessing and ask yourself what you'd tell a close friend if she described the exact same situation.

A Subtle New Piece on the Chemistry Trap Is Getting a Lot of Attention

‍

A June 2026 Psychology Today analysis on why people stay in relationships past the point of fulfillment includes a finding that's particularly relevant this week: the pull toward someone who creates intensity often has less to do with compatibility and more to do with the familiarity of a specific emotional texture one that was established long before this particular person arrived. In other words, the feeling of "this is different" can sometimes be the nervous system recognizing a pattern it already knows, not discovering something new. That distinction is worth sitting with slowly.

Question for you: Have you ever met someone and felt an immediate, powerful sense of recognition or "this is my person" and how did that relationship actually unfold over time?

When the Performance Is Flawless and That's the Problem

‍

There's a specific kind of confusion that comes from dating someone who is doing everything right on the surface. The gestures are there. The words are right. He seems, by every visible measure, like a good man. And yet something in you keeps quietly registering that the picture and the feeling don't quite match.

‍

Most women who've been here know exactly what I mean. And most of them also know the self-doubt that follows: maybe I'm being too suspicious. Maybe I've been hurt before and now I'm looking for problems. Maybe I should be more grateful for someone who's putting in this kind of effort.

‍

But here's what I've come to understand: genuine character doesn't require a performance. It's just consistent, regardless of the audience.

‍

The clearest signal isn't what he does when he's trying to impress you. It's what he does when he thinks no one particularly important is watching. How he treats the people who can do nothing for him. Whether his private behavior matches his public presentation.

‍

Try this now: Think of two or three moments with someone you're dating that happened when the pressure was off. What did those moments actually show you?

Your Secret Invitation

‍

I rewatched The Proposal this week, and the story arc of Sandra Bullock's character stuck with me long after the credits rolled.

‍

She built an empire around being untouchable, the kind of competence that fills a calendar and empties out everything else in life.

‍

I see that exact pattern in so many of the women I coach, the ones who learned early that softness comes with a price - so they built a fortress instead.

‍

Check out my video where I talk about this in more detail.
